Can I take photographs of documents in the Archives?

Answer

Documents may only be photographed with the approval of the archivist. If approved, please keep in mind:

  • When handling materials, please touch only the edges.
  • Hands must be clean.
  • Gloves must be worn at all times when handling photographic materials that are not in sleeves.
  • Permission to publish any material must be requested in writing prior to publication.
  • Photocopies will be made at the discretion of the library staff. The library reserves the right to withhold permission for the reproduction of any material, especially when copying may cause physical damage.

High-quality digital images and prints: Please refer to the rights and reproductions fee schedule, or contact the archivist.

  1. This was helpful. I didn't know we could purchase high-quality digital images and prints, too.
