How do I place a hold or reserve a title? (Example for long text)

Looking for item that isn't available at your library branch? Don't worry, we can get it for you, just place it on hold. Once it is ready, you will get an email or a text letting you know how to pick it up. Not sure if your info is up-to-date, just login to your account to check.
Hold FAQs
Place a hold online
- Log in to My Library Account. If it's your first time, you need to register.
- Find the item you want in the catalog.
Click the green Place a Hold button.
Place a hold by phone
Call Ask a Librarian: 888-888-8888, Option 1. If the item is available and you want a same-day hold, call the location that has it. See all location phone numbers.
How Holds Work:
- How many can I have?
- 7 holds at a time on physical items
- 10 digital items on hold at a time
- How long does it take to get them?
- Items already at the library take up to 4 hours.
- Items coming from another library take 3-5 business days to arrive.
- How long do I have to pick it up?
- Once you get the notification that it is ready, you will have 7calendar days to pick it up or cancel the hold.
- What happens if I forget to pick it up?
- Holds that are ordered and not picked up will incure a $1 per item.
Note: Heights and Riverside branches are not an option while they are closed for renovations.
Pick Up Your Holds
- Once it's ready you will get an email or text notification. Follow the link to select a pickup time for your materials.
- There are two pickup options, walk up and drive up. Choose the option that works best for you. You must schedule a pickup time to collect your items.
- If you didn't get a notification, log into My Library Account: Holds and check the notification tab.
