There are lots of great neighborhoods in Portland to shop, but here are a few notable areas to check out, which aren't too far from the convention center:
Lloyd District - The convention center is actually located in the Lloyd district, so you don't have far to go. This area is named for the huge Lloyd Center mall. In addition to your typical department store finds, the Lloyd Center also boasts an 18-screen movie theatre and an ice rink.
If you'd like to check out some smaller, more unique shops, check out NE Broadway.
-
Downtown - check out the West End area in particular. It's over the river and west of the convention center. It's got a number of cute shops, as well as the well-known Powell's Books (which takes up an entire city block).
-
Hawthorne - this area is probably the farthest from the convention center, in the SE quadrant of the city. However, there are a variety of unique and quintessentially Portland shops there. If the West End doesn't whet your whistle, check it out!
